Ray of hope for PNP applicants who lost jobs to Coronavirus, Canada, gives a second chance

These are challenging times where the economy is going through a slump, and people are losing their jobs due to Coronavirus. However, IRCC has lent a helping hand to the applicants by putting their application on hold until they find a new job or till March 2021.

Canadian provinces and territories lend a helping hand for the applicants who have until November 17 to request paper-based PNP applications to be put on hold if there is no job offer for them.

The Coronavirus pandemic times have been critical, and the applicants who have lost their jobs have until 2021 to get a new job so that they don't lose out on their nomination.

The provincial and territorial jurisdictions have the right to request the paper-based PNP applications to be put on hold if they have lost their job due to the Coronavirus. This they can do Between September 17 and November 17. The eligible applications should be received before March 18, 2020. The Canadian government will hold these applications until March 17, 2021, or until the time the applicant gets a new job offer along with the confirmation from the Province that the candidate is still nominated.

The IRCC looks up to the Provinces for advice on this matter and will put the PNP application on hold as suggested. The appellant will be contacted and advised on how to submit the additional documents.

Provincial Nominee Programs

Every Province has pathways and streams through which the candidate can move to Canada.  PNP helps applicants with skills, education, and work experience migrate and help the Province's economy.

The two ways to apply for Nomination of a Province are:

·   Express Entry linked streams, where the preferred Province can be selected, and the Province will contact the eligible applicant.

·    Select the streams of PNP for direct application and enter the EOI system of selection.

Ideally, the PNP applicants should retain their job offer throughout the entire application process. But, these certainly are not normal times; thus, the changes have been imposed. Hence, the need for a temporary measure by the IRCC to curb the side-effects of the pandemic. There are more than one million people in Canada who have lost their jobs in March. As per the latest Statistics Canada report, Canada is moving towards economic recovery, but the economy has still not reached the pre-coronavirus levels. The Immigration numbers in July were also less by  30 percent compared to the situation in 2019. With everything seeing a slump, some flexibility by the Canadian government comes as a relief.

It is nice to know that the Canadian government is taking steps to welcome immigrants and help them integrate economically and socially. In these challenging times, people coming together to help one another can save us from a problematic future.

Immigration is considered the key to economic recovery in Canada, and these measures can help make a difference.
